Archiving, Preservation, Documentation

Do you need to reconstruct or document a crime scene or a car crash for  court proceeding or insurance purposes. Why take photos when you can record and simulate in 3D?

3D Laser scanning is a fast and accurate way of of reconstructing that crime scene or car crash which will last forever.  Roadways can be cleared more quickly and measurements can be taken at any time, even years later with the same accuracy as if they were taken now. 3D cad models can be created using the raw scan data allowing investigators to gather information on vehicle speeds, tyre skid marks, trajectories or other evidence.

Do you need to record measurements of heritage listed buildings or artefacts to see how it is changing over time?

The 3D scanning data can be documented for archival purposes or replicated in case of natural disaster. 3D scanning data can also be collected and compared for wear anaylsis or compared to scan data that was collected at an earlier date.
