Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader

One of our largest movie project to date, Wysiwyg 3D were involved from the very beginning. Scanning sets, props, actors and actresses was all made possible with the accurate range of portable laser scanning equipment used by the Wysiwyg 3D engineers.

File types can be exported into a number of industry standard formats to be used by Art Departments or  VFX departments.

Australia

The Boab tree, Darwin Wharf, Bowen Wharf and the complete town of Bowen were the main items lidar scanned for the movie Australia. Using a combination of our portable 3d laser scanners and our terrestrial scanner Wysiwyg 3D was able to capture detailed and accurate information for pre-planning and animation purposes.

Using our terrestrial scanner Wysiwyg 3D’s engineers were able to lidar scan the Darwin Wharf and  the town of Bowen.  Our 3d cad data formed the basis of the reconstruction work and  then exported for pre-visualisation planning including the planning of camera locations.

Ghost Rider

Using our various 3d laser scanners Wysiwyg 3D was able to acquire data from a number of different sized objects as large as Australia's Melbourne Telstra Dome to Johhny Blaze's helmet and Johnny Blaze's motorbike.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Using the Artec and Minolta scanner combo Wysiwyg 3D scanned Geoffrey Rush to get accurate and detailed facial images for animation purposes.

Fool's Gold

Using a lidar scanner Wysiwyg 3D was able to capture data of the large ships and details of the underwater landscaping. Laser scanned onsite in Queensland Australia, the data was then processed to create accurate 3D cad models.

Superman Returns

Filmed in Melbourne Australia, Wysiwyg 3D scanned the props and in particular Superman's glasses. Although Superman's glasses are oversized we were able to scan real life glasses capturing the fine detail to then scale up and get remade.

Star Wars

One of our all time favourite projects was the ships from Star Wars I and II. From initial artists sketches preliminary models of the ships were made. After final approval from George Lucas the scaled models were then laser scanned and rebuilt to full size for animation purposes.
Some of the ships scanned included Naboo N-1 fighter, Slave 1 XJ-6 Airspeeder, C-9979 Landing Craft, Obi Wan Kenobi's ship and the Delta 7 Light Interceptor.

Plastic

Sandy & Courtney explain the processes they used to create the multi award winning Plastic (as on AFTRS showcase website):
"Shane Rolton (WYSIWYG 3D) supported the production by executing the full 3D body scans of the actress catering for the possibility of having to replace shots with 3D elements if the 2D warping effect didn't work out according to plan."

Son of the Mask

One of our more challenging projects complete with many limiting factors Wysiwyg 3D was called upon to help create and cyber scan the Son of Mask car for manufacturing and laser scan a mask for the dog animation.

Scooby Doo

Using cutting edge 3d cyber scanning technology Wysiwyg 3D scanned some of the actors including Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prince Junior to capture accurate facial details and measurements.

House of Flying Daggers

Using the Faro Arm and Modelmaker Combo, Wysiwyg 3d engineers were able to 3d laser scan the swords and shields

Rogue

Another Australian film laser scanned by the Wysiwyg 3D engineers.

Full body scans is a Wysiwyg 3D speciality. Fasy and easy to use 3D laser scanning can take as little as 10 mintues, perfect for the busy actors filming schedule.
